Vandal's Doughnuts 'Birthday Sex' Burger

Back in March 2019 we took a trip to Halifax for Halifax Burger Week specifically to try Vandals Doughnuts "Birthday Sex" Burger.

Halifax Burger week has become an annual event and you can get a "passport" and collect stamps from local food vendors taking part to enter. We love burgers but since we live 2.5 hours away from the city we chose the burger that peaked our interest the most.

Vandals is anything but your ordinary doughnut shop. Located in the heart of Halifax' North End the eccentric shop is bright and wildly designed and really stands out against the gray city street.

We decided to try to go before noon and even around 11am there was a queue outside the shop and a 20 minute wait to get in.

We grabbed a box of doughnuts to go along with our B-day sex burger.

Chocolate dipped, Grouch, Reeses, Apple and Cherry I do believe... flavours change all the time but are'nt the Grouchy faces cute?

The 'Birthday Sex' burger is a 6 oz burger patty, topped with bacon and melted cheddar and spicy chipotle sauce and sandwiched between two halves of a glazed doughnut with rainbow sprinkles. Oh yeah and there was some green stuff jammed in there too (mixed greens).

By the time I got to eat mine it was a little cold, as you can tell by the congealed cheese. The mix of sweet doughnut icing and spicy chipotle made for a really nice treat. I probably could have ate two but that might not have been the wisest choice. Absolutely worth driving the 2.5 hours for.
